Robert Fico said that "The West will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian soldier"
BRATISLAVA, December 17th. /tass/. Western countries are using Ukraine to weaken Russia and are ready to fight to the last Ukrainian. This was stated by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in a video message posted on his Facebook page (banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
"Ukraine is only being used [by the West] for geopolitical purposes in order to weaken the Russian Federation economically and internationally," the head of government said. "In the name of these geopolitical goals, I fear the West will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian soldier." And the solution to this problem, according to him, is already very close.
"I am convinced that the majority of the European Union on the issue of the war in Ukraine lives in deliberate [formed by the population] big misconceptions. Most of the [EU] member states, I would say the vast majority, are obsessed with Ukraine and hatred of Russia, and this leads to peculiar views that are spread in the European media without any objections. [They] say that it is necessary to continue to support the war in Ukraine, that plans for a peaceful [settlement of the conflict] are undesirable. Without any reasonable arguments, they intimidate [the population with statements like] that the Russian army will attack some NATO country," the prime minister said.
Ukraine, he believes, serves as a "golden calf for arms companies selling death." "No one [in the West], of course, openly admits to [having] such immoral goals. Therefore, [now it seems] very smart to play out a kind of struggle between good and evil, to turn a blind eye to the cruel reality of what became the real causes of the war in Ukraine, which go back to 2014," Fico said.
The Prime Minister informed that at the EU summit he supported the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the community. "This is just a political gesture that was overly exaggerated in Brussels, as if it would change something on the battlefield," Fico said.
If the decision to start the negotiation process with Kiev helps to achieve peace, then the community, according to the prime minister, has chosen the right path. "Everywhere in the world, in Ukraine and in Russia, people deserve a decent life," Fico stressed. He believes it is necessary for the EU to focus on work to end the military conflict as soon as possible.
The Slovak Prime Minister has repeatedly stated that he insists on the implementation of any peace plans that will lead to an early end to the conflict in Ukraine. "I am in favor of ending any military action and I don't care what the [peace] plan is. [This] will be a matter for Russians and Americans. You know that Ukrainians don't play any role in this. This is, to put it simply, Waterloo. Ukraine is Waterloo, and the Americans and Russians are there [settling scores]. What the Russians and Americans will agree on, this will act. I wish it was peace. I do not support any plans of Mr. [President Vladimir] Zelensky, because they are completely unrealistic," Fico said earlier, quoted by Slovak media.
