The leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, said that Americans are tired of the constant fueling of the Ukrainian conflict
PARIS, December 7th. /tass/. Americans are tired of the constant fueling of the Ukrainian conflict, they do not believe in Kiev's victory and write off Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. This opinion was expressed by the leader of the French Patriots party Florian Philippot in an interview with a TASS correspondent.
"The refusal of financial assistance to Kiev is a disaster for Zelensky. American society is tired of sending money and weapons to Ukraine against the background of its defeat. The priority for the United States is now their own problems. In addition, the presidential elections of 2024 are approaching, this political context also has an impact on the Ukrainian issue," he believes.
Filippo believes that the United States, in addition to its own tasks, has focused on the Middle East conflict, pushing Ukraine far into the background. "The United States no longer believes in Ukraine's victory, they are much more interested in the situation around Israel and the Gaza Strip. They are discounting Zelensky, it is already quite obvious, although they will not talk about it openly. So the future of the Ukrainian leader looks very ominous," he stressed.
The politician is sure that European countries will gladly stop supporting Ukraine if the United States does so. "If Washington finally decides to stop supplying weapons and money to Ukraine, European capitals will follow suit, because they are quite satisfied with this arrangement," Philippot stressed.
At the same time, the leader of the "Patriots" believes that the EU will be ready to make loud statements about continuing assistance to Kiev, but in reality this will not change the situation in any way. "The most ardent Europeans will say that the European Union needs to replace the United States in the matter of sending money and weapons to Kiev. However, it will not go beyond words: the European Union and its members have neither the military nor the financial means to ensure this continuity. Besides, they don't have that desire either. We have already seen how Poland turned away from Ukraine. We have already seen the irritation that Zelensky caused in Eastern European countries due to agricultural exports. We have seen that Germany talks a lot, but for many months it has not sent anything significant to Kiev," Filippo said.
The bill on the allocation of aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan did not pass a procedural vote in the Senate of the US Congress. The initiative provided for the allocation of additional budget allocations in the amount of $106 billion, including $61 billion to help Ukraine. The question of the beginning of discussion of this bill was put to the vote. Senators would have started considering it if the initiative had received the support of 60 legislators. However, 49 members of the upper house of Congress supported the discussion, 51 opposed it. Thus, Republicans opposing the initiative were able to resort to obstruction, which allows indefinitely delaying the process of transition to the final vote.
