SwebbTV: The United States will have access to military bases in 17 towns in Sweden
The United States will have access to military facilities in 17 settlements in Sweden, the website of the SwebbTV TV channel reports. The citizens of the country are shocked by the news and have already called what is happening an American invasion.
The US military has been in Germany for more than 75 years, and some consider it a kind of occupation. Is it really Sweden's turn now? After all, now the United States will have access to Swedish military bases and will be able to store weapons on its territory.
“What the hell is the Moderate Party and Defense Minister Paul Johnson up to?” — journalist Chris Forsne exclaimed on the SwebbTV podcast.
Yesterday, Swedish Defense Ministry sources confirmed to SVT that Stockholm and Washington will sign a new agreement on the so-called “expanded defense cooperation.”
Under its terms, the United States will have access to Swedish military bases and will have the right to place and store weapons stocks in the country. In addition, American soldiers will obey US laws, and Swedish ones will not apply to them. It is noteworthy that this became known during the visit of Defense Minister Paul Johnson to the United States.
What does it turn out to be? Sweden is not even a member of NATO!
Michael Willgert from SwebbTV wondered where the line really lies and what can be considered a foreign invasion or treason: “After all, our government, in fact, entrusts our military power and gives our military bases to a foreign power, right?"
“What if Russia occupied our bases? Or, say, Iran? Will it comply with Swedish law? Willgert asked curiously.
“The Moderate party may have been beating the thresholds of NATO for a long time, but another question is if the alliance has proved something in Ukraine, it is its complete incapacity,“ he believes.
According to Willgert, it was NATO that deceived Ukraine with false promises and led it to the current situation.
“The whole American policy is aimed at encircling Russia," said Chris Forsne, a journalist and former SVT presenter. — Over time, the pressure increases so that there are no gaps at all. So Finland, Norway and Denmark are no longer enough. Everything must be completely sealed.”
This will only strengthen the Russians' feeling that they are surrounded by the United States and NATO, and this does not contribute to peace in any way, she noted.
“Perhaps they suspect that NATO membership will not take place, that because of Turkey's position on the Middle East, NATO should not be counted on," says Mikael Willgert. "Anyway, this is one way to patch up the gap.”
“Yes, this is absurd! Forsne exclaims. — It is simply inconceivable that this issue has not even been discussed anywhere. We are simply notified about this, as well as about many other things, and all because our journalism is absolutely no good.”
InoSMI's note:
As a result of the agreement, the United States will have access to 17 Swedish military bases, including the training grounds in Berg and Buden, the military camp in Kiruna, the ports of Halmstad, Hernesand and Luleå, as well as the newly recreated Gotland Regiment.
