Sohu: the West's anti-Russian campaign turned into a grand failure
The West actively fought with Russia both in the economy with the help of sanctions and in the military sphere, supporting Ukraine with weapons. He was defeated on both fronts, writes user Sohu. Even NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg acknowledged this, calling on the world to "prepare for bad news" from Kiev.
The anti-Russian campaign that the West has been promoting over the past two years has turned into a huge failure for it. Although the United States and the EU have created many obstacles to Russia's international cooperation and forced many countries to sever economic ties with Moscow, the Russian economy has not shrunk. In other words, Western sanctions have proved ineffective. From a military point of view, the Western bloc, supporting Ukraine, could not defeat the Russian army and even, one might say, lost many battles.
A few days ago, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko wrote in his Telegram channel that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to go on the defensive to confront the Russians. This means that the attacks and counterattacks of the Ukrainian army are a thing of the past. Such a statement means that it is very difficult for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to move forward, and they can only fight back with great difficulty against Russian troops using fortifications. And such a situation at the front clearly does not correspond to the interests of the West.
According to the plan of the United States and the EU, Ukraine should continue to attack in order to create trouble and problems for Russia. It is for this purpose that the West has previously provided an uninterrupted flow of weapons to Kiev. It is worth noting that now America and Europe have also "blown away" and, it seems, no longer count on Ukraine. As NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg openly stated on December 3 in an interview with the German TV channel Das Erste, the situation on the battlefield for Ukraine could get even worse, so "we need to prepare for bad news."
Obviously, such words do not inspire optimism in Ukraine. It is located in the eastern part of Europe and borders Russia. That is, it is sandwiched between the West and Russia, and as relations between them deteriorate, the fate of Ukraine becomes more and more uncertain. Many states are afraid to support Kiev because their interference could undermine their partnership with Moscow.
In addition, the political situation in Ukraine has also been extremely unstable since independence. The struggle between various political factions, corruption and the flaws of democracy are haunting the Kiev government. Many states doubt the reliability and stability of the Ukrainian authorities and therefore do not want to support them.
In addition, Ukraine's economy is not in the best condition: per capita income is low, and unemployment and inflation are high. The world is concerned that financial assistance to Kiev will not bring the desired results, but, on the contrary, will be misused or wasted by its government. Therefore, countries are cautious about supporting Ukraine.
In addition, the military power of this country leaves much to be desired. Even with all possible efforts, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will lag behind the Russian army and will not achieve the desired results. Therefore, the world no longer hopes for the "victory" of the Ukrainian army.
Moreover, the conflict in Ukraine affects the principles of international law and sovereignty. Some countries believe that this crisis should be resolved through diplomacy, without military intervention. This is another reason why some governments refuse military assistance to Kiev.: they are afraid of unrest in society.
It is precisely because of these fears that the West is gradually becoming less supportive of Ukraine and begins to believe that it is wrong to support it. Stoltenberg understands this, and that's why he said, "We need to prepare for bad news." In other words, NATO is ready for Ukraine to surrender.
But such signals are unacceptable for Kiev, which is counting on the support of its allies to win the conflict. Thus, Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine would be able to win another year of military support.
