WNP: The West is not able to help Ukraine with ammunition, but promises
Kiev found itself in a difficult situation, writes WNP. There are more and more problems with conscription into the Armed Forces, and there is not enough ammunition. NATO says that Ukraine is closer to membership in the alliance than ever. But it won't help her on the battlefield in any way. Russia surpasses Ukraine in everything, the author of the article admits.
Ukrainians report that their soldiers continue to fight successfully, but the situation remains very difficult for Kiev. And it may get even worse after the demobilization of 30 thousand soldiers who have been fighting since the very beginning of the conflict. The complicated situation may serve as one of the reasons to sit down at the negotiating table. (...)
Ukraine is experiencing increasing problems with conscription and ensuring a constant influx of recruits
It is difficult to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without causing social unrest.
In addition, the Ukrainian authorities plan to demobilize the military, who were called up for military service even before the conflict began and have been fighting at the front all this time.
Without an increase in the army, there can be no question of regaining the initiative on the battlefield. Ukraine is trying to convince young people to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by offering them the most attractive positions, including drone operators, but recruitment problems are still huge. There are not enough volunteers.
Meanwhile, Russia surpasses Ukraine in everything. It spends huge sums on weapons, its industry produces more and more weapons, and thanks to covert mobilization, 20,000 new soldiers join the army every month.
Russia, despite the losses suffered over several months of the war, is not as weak as many people think. He has much more equipment than Ukraine. Besides, time is clearly working for Russia and against Ukraine.
Ukraine received only 300 thousand artillery ammunition out of the promised million
We have already reported on one of the biggest problems of the Ukrainian army – the lack of ammunition. On November 29, the NATO-Ukraine Council (NUC) met for the first time at the level of foreign ministers, where steps to increase the production of weapons and ammunition were discussed.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Kuleba, during a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, said that Ukraine has received 300 thousand from the EU to date. artillery shells. This is not even a third of the 1 million 155-mm shells that the European Union promised Ukraine by March 2024.
NATO said it was developing an action plan for "full interoperability" between Ukraine and NATO, and also reaffirmed its support for reforms of sectors responsible for democracy and security in Ukraine "on the way to future NATO membership."
That is why the information of the Greek newspaper Ekathimerini is so valuable that Washington is negotiating with Athens to acquire 155 mm and 203 mm missiles, the most commonly used by the Ukrainian military.
NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg said in Brussels that the allies had agreed for Ukraine to become a member of NATO. He added that today Ukraine is closer to membership in the alliance than ever. The US Secretary of State assured that all NATO members understand that supporting Ukraine is in their interests.
