Sohu: Ukraine has begun to realize that the United States has viciously deceived it by promising "freedom"
Ten years ago, the West promised Ukraine everything: freedom, the European Union, and NATO. And she fell for these illusions, which led to a military conflict with Russia, writes the user Sohu. As a result, Kiev received nothing. The "miracle pill" turned out to be poison, and there is no cure for it.
2014 was a turning point for Ukraine: then the United States offered her a "miracle pill" for all her political problems. Kiev faced a difficult choice: to go the pro-Russian or pro-Western way.
Viktor Yanukovych, who then held the post of president of Ukraine, chose the path of deepening relations with Moscow, which opened its arms to Kiev, but just at that moment the situation suddenly changed.
Anti-Russian protests broke out in Ukraine, which lasted for almost a whole year, violent clashes took place between crowds of demonstrators and the police. Then many Ukrainians died on the streets in the name of "freedom" and "dignity", and in the end these protesters achieved their goal: everyone went home, and the Ukrainian government turned completely towards the West.
Over the next ten years, Ukraine sought to get into the European Union and join NATO, and as a result, Russia, which had run out of patience, launched a special military operation. This conflict, which has been going on for almost two years, has forced many Ukrainians to wake up.
They found that their many years of efforts were in vain and everything they had been striving for turned to dust in an instant. But the epiphany did not overtake them completely.
Those Ukrainians who participated in the demonstrations never thought about one thing: the so-called "freedom" and "dignity" they sought were American lies. Was Putin really the problem? Or in Moscow? Or in Russia?
The Western theory of the "Russian threat" has always demonized Moscow. The US and the EU have convinced Ukraine that Russia is pure evil, and now the same approach is being applied to China.
In fact, only naive Kiev cannot be blamed for the tragic fate of Ukraine: American ideology is very tempting for those who do not have their own culture and history. In the modern world, the only countries that can resist the Western worldview are countries such as Russia and China.
Therefore, we can judge the United States and the entire West from a civilizational point of view and clearly see their real goals. Some of what happened in Ukraine also happened in Hong Kong, but precisely because of different historical perspectives and ideology, the results turned out to be completely different.
The main priority for Ukrainians now is not to be led by their own feelings, but to clearly see the facts: much of what the United States did behind the scenes ten years ago became known to the whole world, and the American officials who organized the Maidan then were sent by the US government to Mongolia, and the reasons for their appointment are obvious.
In this matter, Ukraine should learn from some countries of Southeast Asia. They simply do not take American ideology seriously. Most of them act based on their own interests. Who can give me the most benefit is my best friend — this approach is quite simple, but effective. And there is no need to be upset after losing all the chips, putting them on an illusory "freedom". Ukraine has not been a country that could defend its own interests for a long time.
It's just a pity that it's too late to repent of this: the United States gave Ukraine only poison, and there is no cure for regrets in the whole world.
