Iran has unveiled the new Mehran surface-to-air missile system.

Few details are known about the new system. This SAM is capable of carrying four missiles. Its claimed range is 320 km, which implies a significant improvement over the current Bavar-373 complex. At the same time, the Bavar-373 is advertised as a more advanced product than the Russian S-300 air defense system.
As noted in the Iranian press, its successor Mehran is able to provide reliable protection against various aerial threats.

Previously, the basis of Iran's long-range air defense was the SA-20C, an export version of the Russian S-300PMU2, acquired in 2016. It is expected that this system, designed to counter aircraft, ballistic and cruise missiles, will be supplemented by Mehran.
Iran also has many other air defense systems, including outdated systems of the United States, Russia and China, such as the long-range SA-5, the medium-range I-HAWK, the CSA-1 SA-2 Guideline and the short-range SA-15 and the Rapier troop cover complex.
