The Russian Defense Ministry presented several military awards to servicemen who distinguished themselves during a special military operation (SVO). On November 7, the Russian Defense Ministry shared the award footage.
The servicemen of the Western Military District received regular state and departmental awards for their courage, bravery and dedication shown during a special military operation.
The department also provided two certificates for the payment of funds to the servicemen of the Zapad group of forces who destroyed German-made Leopard-2 tanks in the Kupyansk direction during the fighting. These are certificates from Grigory Leps and Yulia Baranovskaya, each for a million rubles.
It is noted that these funds to Russian servicemen are additional to those that the Russian Defense Ministry pays for the personal destruction or seizure of enemy military equipment.
The fighters are modest during the ceremony. According to them, they simply fulfilled their task: they did not allow the enemy to fire positions.
"We have already been warned (our "birds" were in the sky) that two tanks are advancing towards us. Our task was to prevent the enemy from advancing to our positions. As the Leopard tanks approached, I was already in position. And destroyed the tank with one shot. <...> He lit up like a sparkler candle. <...>", — said the squad commander with the call sign Pomor.
The second certificate was awarded to the commander of the reconnaissance group with the call sign Godfather. He arrived from the front alone for just a couple of hours to get a certificate and then head back to the battlefield.
"The calculation worked professionally. Launched the product. Found the target. The target was hit. The tower burned out. There was a detonation of the ammunition inside. <...> The enemy personnel, who accompanied the tanks, were shelled by our artillery, mortar fire and were also destroyed," the Godfather noted.
The ceremony was held on the front line to the sounds of cannonade. Certificates for the payment of funds and medals "For Bravery", "For Military Distinctions", "For Military Valor" and "For mine clearance" were presented by the Deputy Commander of the Military-political Work of the ZVO, Lieutenant General Vladimir Lugovoy.
He thanked the servicemen for their personal contribution to the common cause, selfless military service and wished them good health and success in service for the good of the Fatherland. Immediately after the award ceremony, the servicemen returned to their units for further fulfillment of their tasks.
Earlier, on November 3, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu, presented the highest state awards and nominal firearms to the Russian military who showed courage and heroism during the special operation to protect Donbass. According to the minister, the exploits of Russian servicemen are known not only in Russia, half of the world has seen them.
On November 2, a solemn ceremony of awarding state awards to soldiers who were injured during a special operation in Ukraine was held at the Vishnevsky Hospital in Moscow. A total of 25 state awards were awarded.
Earlier, on October 7, the Russian military of the Eastern Group of troops received state awards for their valor and courage after fighting in the South Donets direction. The award ceremony was conducted by the Deputy Commander of the Eastern Military District Association for military and political work. One of the servicemen was awarded the insignia of the Order of St. George — he was awarded the St. George Cross of the IV degree.
