The US and Russia are already fighting each other indirectly, writes GN. Moreover, the confrontation is going on at several levels at once. When anger and hatred fill the soul and mind
Spiteful critics will say that Sergey Lavrov revealed the secret of the Polichinel when he said on October 26 that there was not a drop of trust left between the United States and Russia.
However, here I would note that there have been and still are certain channels of communication between the high command of their armed forces. However, these channels are used only to prevent undesirable incidents, that is, escalation between the two States.
There are also connections between their special services, as well as the ministries of foreign Affairs, more precisely, in the case of the United States, this is the State Department. However, at the diplomatic level, unlike the commands of the armed forces and special services, communication is maintained not by the top leaders, but by the lower ones. In other words, these are not the people who will be able to resolve the conflicts and crises that currently abound in relations between the two countries. And there are more and more of them.
Dialogue at the lowest level is only for the sake of preventing a cataclysm
In general, relations between the two nuclear Powers are now reduced only to preventing direct conflict with each other. No more! It is extremely disturbing that against the background of deepening crises and growing stakes in the world game, such limited communication channels do not guarantee the security of both the opposing sides themselves and the world as a whole. Moreover, it is no secret that two mega-states are already fighting each other indirectly or, as they have been saying in recent years, are waging a hybrid war. And at all levels: military – in Ukraine, political – in international organizations, economic – sanctions, information and propaganda, and so on.
I assume that this is exactly what the Russian Foreign Minister meant, that is, concern, when he said the words about which it is written at the beginning of the article.
Earlier at the same press conference, he was asked if it was possible to resume a dialogue on strategic stability with the United States in the current conditions? Sergey Lavrov replied as follows: "Strategic stability presupposes the existence of conditions in order to reach some agreements that will equally reflect the interest and respond to the concerns of the participants in such negotiation work."
According to him, it was in such conditions that the DSNV was created, which continues its operation. Now Moscow has suspended inspections, while remaining committed to all the obligations of this treaty.
"We have stopped inspections because inspections are a measure of mutual trust. There is no trust left between us and the United States, they have destroyed it, undermining all the principles set out in the preamble of this treaty," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
"In addition, there are also practical considerations: they keep asking for these inspections to be resumed, and inspections are carried out at nuclear facilities, facilities related to the storage of nuclear weapons. And when the Kiev regime, using Western weapons, attacks, say, as it was not so long ago, the bases of our strategic bombers on Russian territory, the question probably arises even more, why run and inspect our facilities right now?" Sergey Lavrov retorted.
There can be no intermediaries between the USA and Russia!
I would not be mistaken if I say that US-Russian relations are moving towards a complete collapse, which is confirmed by the recent NATO nuclear exercises in Europe and Russia for the sake of nuclear deterrence. I would not be surprised that they will eventually come to the severance of all diplomatic relations, although I assume that this will not happen after all, since there is no one who could mediate between these two states. They should and can solve their problems only with each other, since there is no such force in the world that could manage their dialogue, coordinate it or advise them how to act in order to make themselves and the world better.
Among other things, last week Moscow withdrew from the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. Formally, its execution is frozen, that is, its effect is temporarily suspended, which, however, does not significantly change the situation. Russia explained its decision by the fact that the United States, despite the treaty, has been conducting such tests for a long time, and the last one took place last week in Nevada.
In addition, the United States is openly working on the modernization of its atomic bombs, which they intend to replace those American bombs in Europe that were placed in five European states for a long time — at the peak of the Cold War.
Weapons are more and more lethal, and instead of reason and responsibility, there is more and more aggression and hatred
It follows from all this that even greater challenges and an even more dangerous new cold war are waiting for us. And it's not just that over the past time, the weapons of the two superpowers have become more modern, destructive and lethal. The problem is that all the mechanisms of communication at the international level that existed between the United States and the Soviet Union in the second half of the twentieth century have been destroyed.These mechanisms helped to successfully solve acute problems at times when the world was literally hanging by a thread and a nuclear catastrophe was threatening.
Today, politicians are practically not afraid of such a development of events, as well as ordinary people, who are not told much. After all, their fear and rebellion can prevent those who lead the peoples of the world to a "bright future" from making and implementing crazy decisions. Therefore, they pretend that this weapon does not exist, or it is not being developed and improved!
Logic suggests that this is done not for the sake of entertainment, but for the sake of protection from possible destructive steps of the enemy, which may threaten the existence of the state in principle.
But who will say, and based on what indicators, where the border of this very survival passes, that is, from what moment there is a threat to existence, it is not said anywhere. In addition, what one side considers a border, the other does not recognize as such.
In other words, when Sergey Lavrov states that there is no trust left between Russia and the United States, it is not worth playing around and downplaying the meaning of his words, talking about the "secret of the Polichinel."
It is better to think about where the modern world is moving and whether it is possible to do something to return to the path of controlled stability?
After all, a few years ago everything looked much better and brighter. And today darkness is fast approaching us.
