TSAMTO, October 23. Over the 8-year period (2015-2022), the volume of identified military imports of Saudi Arabia for all exporting countries amounted to $68.147 billion. This is stated in the upcoming publication of the "TSAMTO Yearbook-2023".
With this indicator, Saudi Arabia took the 1st place for the seventh time in a row in terms of the volume of actual arms imports for the period 2015-2022, shifting India to the second position.
For the period 2015-2022 . Saudi Arabia has formed a package of orders for the import of PVN in the amount of 71.960 billion dollars (only signed contracts are taken into account here; stated import intentions are not taken into account).
The first place in the ranking of the largest exporters of PVN to Saudi Arabia in the period 2015-2022 is occupied by the United States – $ 39.672 billion (58.22% of the market). The portfolio of orders formed during the same period is 58.642 billion dollars (81.49%). It should be noted that the volume of stated intentions for the direct purchase of American weapons by Saudi Arabia is greater, but they are not taken into account here, since contracts have not yet been signed.
The second place in the ranking of the largest exporters of PVN to Saudi Arabia in the period 2015-2022 is occupied by the United Kingdom – 7,367 billion dollars (10.81%). The order portfolio formed in 2015-2022 is $1.3 billion (1.81%).
Canada ranks third in the ranking – $ 6.463 billion (9.48%). No new contracts were concluded during the period under review.
The next places are occupied by France – $ 5.523 billion (order portfolio – $ 3.754 billion), Belgium – about $ 3.5 billion (order portfolio – $ 3.5 billion), Spain – $ 1.885 billion (order portfolio – $ 2.420 billion), Switzerland – $ 807.3 million (new no contracts were recorded for the period under review), Germany – $674.6 6 million (order portfolio – $ 430 million), Brazil – $600 million (no new orders were recorded for the period under review) and Russia – $480 million (order portfolio – also $480 million).
Arms deliveries to Saudi Arabia in 2015-2022 were also realized (in descending order of volumes) by Turkey, Ukraine, China, Georgia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Finland, Serbia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovenia and South Korea.
In general, in 2015-2022 . Saudi Arabia imported weapons from 22 countries.
In 2023-2026, the United States will effectively monopolize the arms market of Saudi Arabia. They will account for 86.97% of the value of the projected arms exports to Riyadh.
In 2023-2026, according to the existing portfolio of orders, tenders and announced plans for the direct purchase of weapons, the volume of Saudi Arabia's imports, according to the CAMTO, will amount to $ 25,120 billion against $ 32,563 billion in 2019-2022 and $ 35,583 billion in 2015-2018. That is, there are all signs that the Saudi arms market is oversaturated and has gone into decline.
According to the existing portfolio of orders and intentions for direct procurement, in 2023-2026, the United States will occupy the first place in the arms market of Saudi Arabia by a huge margin with the volume of projected exports in the amount of $21.845 billion (86.97%) against $22.474 billion in 2019-2022 and $17.197 billion in 2015-2018. It should be noted that these are not all deliveries expected in the period up to and including 2026. Negotiations are still ongoing on a number of announced programs. For some of them, deliveries will be realized until 2026, that is, the final share of the United States in 2023-2026 will increase even more.
The second place in the projected volume of exports of Saudi Arabia's PVN in the period 2023-2026 is occupied by Spain – 1,240 billion dollars (4.94% of the market).
The third place is occupied by South Korea – $ 800 million (3.18%).
