TSAMTO, October 13. Rosoboronexport JSC (part of Rostec State Corporation) will present a set of life support and self-defense equipment for the pilot within the framework of the 18th International Aerospace Exhibition Dubai Airshow 2023 (November 13-17).
The new export product is intended for the flight crew of airplanes and helicopters that have ejected or found themselves on the ground after an emergency landing. It was put together by Rosoboronexport specialists in cooperation with pilots of the Russian Aerospace Forces, as well as specialized equipment manufacturers based on experience gained in real combat operations. The kit is similar to that used in the Russian Armed Forces, but is made up of products from alternative manufacturers.
"The survival of the flight crew of airplanes and helicopters in emergency situations before the arrival of search and rescue units largely depends on their equipment with the necessary means of life support and self-defense. Rosoboronexport studied the real experience of recent military conflicts and formed the most optimal set of equipment and equipment that allows crews to survive and maintain combat capability in the most extreme conditions. At Dubai Airshow 2023, we will present this unique product for the first time, consisting entirely of Russian–made elements that have been tested in combat conditions," said Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport.
The pilot's life support and self-defense complex, presented by Rosoboronexport for foreign markets, is thematically divided into 4 clusters: functional uniforms, personal protective and survival equipment, communication and surveillance equipment, as well as self-defense equipment.
The first cluster includes combat trousers, a shirt and shoes. The proposed configuration options for any climatic and weather conditions are designed for a temperature range from +50 to -50 degrees C. In addition, a tactical pouch for a portable emergency reserve and an unloading system with pouches for ammunition, life support, first aid kits and a holster for a Lebedev compact pistol are also offered in the cluster of personal belongings.
Personal protective and survival equipment includes a bulletproof vest of the plate carrier type and 2 types of armor plates for it – ceramic and UHMWPE, as well as a ZSH-7 upgraded protective helmet. In the same cluster, a wearable emergency reserve is offered, selected taking into account the experience of pilots' survival in real combat conditions. It contains a first aid kit, dry rations, a hook with a fishing line, a knife and other equipment.
For communication and monitoring of the situation in the complex there is a radio station of the R-187 "Azart" family with a headset, a monocular of night vision PN-21K, night vision goggles for piloting GEO-ONV1-01M helicopters.
In the cluster of self-defense means, Rosoboronexport, taking into account the recommendations of the specialists of the Russian Aerospace Forces, proposes to equip the flight crew with a 5.56-mm shortened Kalashnikov AK-19 submachine gun or a 9-mm Kalashnikov PPK-20 submachine gun with a PKU-2 collimator sight, as well as a 9-mm Lebedev compact PLC pistol presented abroad for the first time.
Rosoboronexport is ready to consider applications from foreign customers for the supply of the presented complex. In addition, if interested, the company's specialists can offer up-to-date options for replacing its individual components with those available from partners and give recommendations for use in real conditions.
