TSAMTO, October 2. On September 29, the 82nd meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states was held in Tula under the chairmanship of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu.
The Council was attended by military delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the heads of the defense departments exchanged views on the military-political situation in the world and on the borders of the Commonwealth. Based on a substantive analysis of threats and challenges to the security of the CIS countries, the tasks of developing cooperation between friendly armies in the field of defense and military cooperation in the near future are outlined.
Against this background, the tasks of military and military-technical cooperation and the prospects for its further development were discussed. The content of the proposals is aimed at improving the combat capability of the national armed forces, achieving a new level of military cooperation in the field of defense and military security of the Commonwealth states.
Taking into account the substantive orientation of the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers, representatives of the armed forces of the Commonwealth states had the opportunity to get acquainted with the products of Russian military–industrial complex enterprises - the latest models of weapons and military equipment, the practice of their combat use.
In accordance with the agenda of the meeting, the heads of defense departments considered a set of issues on the implementation of multilateral cooperation within the framework of the unified air defense system of the CIS member states.
Joint measures for the preparation of air defense troops (forces) for 2024 have been planned; military-technical and financial issues of further development of cooperation in the field of air defense have been approved, issues of building national segments of the united air defense system of the Commonwealth states have been considered.
During the joint work, the Defense Ministers analyzed the main directions of development of the system of cooperation in the field of military professional training of military personnel and field training of troops; approved the structure, material and technical equipment and principles of the joint humanitarian demining unit; supported the creation of a basic research organization of the CIS states in the field of military security research and the practice of developing military cooperation in the system of pre-university education of the CIS countries.
The Council of Defense Ministers paid special attention to comprehensive preparations for the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. A complex of joint military-professional, scientific, sports, cultural and educational activities is planned for the anniversary of the Great Victory.
It was noted at the meeting that the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was a heroic period in the joint history of the peoples of our states, on which the practice of military–patriotic education of servicemen of friendly armies should be based.
In the interests of further development of cooperation between the CIS member states in the military sphere, the Council of Defense Ministers approved planning documents for multilateral military cooperation for 2024.
The decisions adopted at the 82nd meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers are aimed at improving the system of multilateral military cooperation, further improving the military-professional skills of servicemen, the combat capability of the national armed forces and the development of cooperation in the field of defense based on common, regional and national interests, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
