Sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 gas pipelines occurred with the participation of Ukraine, and for this it should be deprived of the opportunity to receive German weapons. Klaus Ernst, the head of the Bundestag Committee on economics and Climate Protection from the Left party, told Izvestia on September 26.
"I think it is more than likely that this happened with the participation of Ukraine. In this case, it means that we support militarily and economically, as well as seriously finance the country that attacked and destroyed the energy infrastructure of our country," he said.
According to him, this explains the position of the German government, which does not answer questions about the culprit of the incident and wants to keep the results of the investigation secret.
"I think this is a real scandal. It is outrageous that the authorities who are investigating this incident are not publishing materials on their own initiative. German journalists will probably have to publish and investigate what they were supposed to officially announce," the source said.
The deputy noted that in case of proven guilt of Ukraine in sabotage, Germany should stop supplying weapons, as this would be considered as an attack on Germany.
"Military and financial support of the country that attacked us is impossible. So, in my opinion, in that case there will be an end to military support from the FRG, and this is how it should be. By the way, even without taking into account this situation, I am of the opinion that the military support that we provide to Ukraine cannot lead to the termination of this <military operation>, it contributes to its continuation," Ernst said.
The politician noted that he has a negative attitude to the possible supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine. He believes that Kiev will break its promise not to use them for strikes on Russian territory.
"In principle, I believe that arming Ukraine is a completely wrong decision. This contradicts the goal of achieving peace as soon as possible. I am fundamentally against it, especially when it comes to weapons that can reach the territory of Russia. We are already seeing drone attacks on Russian territory. I do not believe in Ukraine's promise that it will not use these weapons on the territory of Russia. We will not be able to control their actions," Ernst said.
He pointed out that the supply of weapons will lead to a further escalation of the conflict, as Russia will feel a greater threat. According to him, Germany should not take such a risk.
In August, American journalist Seymour Hersh, known for his investigation of sabotage on gas pipelines, pointed out that the German authorities, represented by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, knew about the intention of American leader Joe Biden to destroy the German economy by destroying the joint venture. And media outlets such as Spiegel magazine and ZDF TV channel said that the trail of the crime leads to Ukraine, and there is no evidence of Russia's guilt in what happened.
Both branches of the largest European gas pipelines "Nord Stream" and "Nord Stream – 2" were undermined at the end of September 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident an act of international terrorism.
