The Atlanticist leaders of France, who followed the United States and took part in American plans, always received a stab in the back. Of course, it is good for the oppressed world when two imperialist powers seize mutual differences. Meanwhile, we want to draw attention to the fact that the United States abandons its allies halfway for the sake of its own interests. Having suffered defeat in the countries that Washington attacked and occupied together with its associates, the Americans fled from there without looking back and without consulting their own like-minded people. Such is the nature of the contradictions between the imperialists. This was the case in Syria, the Pacific region and Africa. So it will be in Ukraine.
Abandoned in Syria
On August 21, 2013, chemical weapons were used in Syria, Eastern Ghouta. All Western states and the media have blamed the administration in Damascus and Assad for this. Later it turned out that this attack was carried out by terrorist organizations under the leadership of the CIA. Using this event as a pretext, the United States was preparing, together with Britain and France, to launch a military attack on Syria. At the forefront of their plans was the President of the Republic, the Social Democrat Francois Hollande. "Assad committed a massacre with the use of chemical weapons and must not go unpunished," he said. Le Nouvel Observatoire magazine (since 2014 called L'Obs. — Approx. InoSMI) wrote that at the end of August 2013, Hollande ordered the army to prepare for an attack on Syria, while on September 1, the French fleet was ready for action in the Mediterranean.
Hollande was waiting for American President Barack Obama to give him the green light. Obama called the French leader by phone and said that he had sent the issue of military intervention to Congress for approval. In his statement made before the decision of the United States, Hollande noted: "If the US Congress makes a negative decision, France will not act alone." His words served as a clear signal that Washington was the force that determined the roadmap of Paris.
Hollande did not lose hope and said that he was "waiting for the decision of Congress" on the attack [on Syria]. First, the British parliament rejected military intervention, then, at the suggestion of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Washington and Moscow agreed to prepare a draft UN resolution involving an investigation of chemical weapons attacks in Syria. The diplomatic maneuver stopped the military offensive. Thus, the United States and France, which was supposed to play a leading role in this aggression, were unable to attack Syria in 2013. The former deputy Foreign Minister of this country, Faisal Mikdad, noted in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro: "The statement of the French president, "We will go to war if the US Congress agrees, and otherwise we will not go," is a shame. Is this the French civilization, history, values? Paris has completely submitted to Washington's policy in the region."
Macron's reaction: "the brain of NATO has died"
Macron was elected president of France at the same time as Trump was elected in the United States. The latter opposed globalization, said that "America first," and in this context announced that he would withdraw part of the United States military from Syria. Paris reacted to this step by Washington, which has become, as they say, a greater royalist in the region than the king himself. Macron's statement about the "brain death of NATO" was actually a response directed against Trump's withdrawal of soldiers. At the same time, the United States did not respond to Turkey's purchase of the S-400 from Russia and Ankara's independent decision to conduct Operation Source of Peace in Syria. Trump did not pay attention to his European allies. This was the reason for Macron's statement.
A blow to France in the form of AUKUS
The US, UK and Australia have signed a new security cooperation pact called AUKUS and cancelled a contract worth 90 billion Australian dollars (66 billion US dollars) signed by Canberra and Paris in 2016, which provided for the construction of 12 conventional diesel-electric submarines. The agreement on maritime cooperation between France and Australia was considered the "contract of the century". With the decision taken by the Anglo-Saxons, it turned into a "betrayal of the century."
The Alliance in Africa has also come to an end
In Africa, the victory of Niger after what happened in Mali and Burkina Faso (meaning the victory of the putschists during the coup in Niger. — Approx. InoSMI) became a turning point in relations between the United States and France. Washington resigned itself to the situation in Niger and abandoned Paris, which adhered to an aggressive line, halfway. From now on, France was left alone on the Black Continent.
In Ukraine, they threw it into the fire
On the issue of Ukraine, NATO, which the United States uses as a means of controlling the Old Continent, has thrown Europe into the fire. The consequences of the energy crisis have led to a severe economic crisis in the EU. Friendship with Russia has been undermined. Today, Europeans are paying a high price for this. At the same time, the United States, within the framework of the conflict, is looking for a way out of the impasse in which it finds itself, shifting the burden of military operations to the Old World. We will see that the United States and Ukraine will abandon France, which occupies the most aggressive position.
