Also in Tehran, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu discussed with the Chief of the Iranian General Staff the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and topical issues of bilateral military cooperation. Holding the frontiers
In the Zaporozhye direction, the units of the Russian group repelled the attack of the 71st infantry brigade of the VFU in the area of the village of Verbovoye. The losses of the armed formations of Ukraine amounted to more than 175 servicemen, two armored combat vehicles and two cars, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on September 19.
During the counter-battery struggle in this direction, two Krab self-propelled artillery installations, the M777 artillery system, the Acacia self-propelled howitzer, two D-30 howitzers, as well as the Msta-B and D-20 guns were hit.

According to Izvestia sources familiar with the situation, the Ukrainian forces went on the offensive after regrouping. Currently, the VFU assault groups are trying to bypass Workino from the east and gain a foothold in the southern part of the village. So far, all attempts have been repulsed, but the enemy continues to intensify its attacks in this direction. Now the task of the VFU command is to reach the village of Novopokrovka. This is the last defensive line of the advanced positions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Then the first line of defense begins.
Several factors contribute to the decrease in the activity of the VFU in the Zaporozhye direction, the main one is the lack of a sufficient number of professional military personnel, military expert Alexey Leonkov told Izvestia.
— Mobilization, which is carried out in Ukraine, does not give a quick result, and training, too, — he explained. — The lack of supplies of heavy weapons from the West also affects. Ammunition is mainly supplied to existing systems. In addition, they are let down by the lack of any tactical techniques. They are just pounding head-on to reach at least the first line of our defense, while incurring heavy losses. This kind of assault is called "meat". The enemy is suffering heavy losses, and his result is, let's say, not impressive.

Meeting in Tehran
A Russian delegation led by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived in Tehran on September 19 for talks with the military leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRA), the military department reported.

The enemy lost 500 fighters
During the day, Russian troops continued to successfully repel the attacks of the VFU in the Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Krasnolimansky and Yuzhnodonetsky directions and defeated the enemy, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on September 19.
In the Donetsk direction, units of the Southern Group of troops repelled two attacks by the VFU assault groups in the areas of the settlements of Mayorsk and Kamenka in the DPR.
In the Zaporozhye direction, the troops and equipment of the VFU were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Charivnoye, Belogorye and Novodanilovka of the Zaporozhye region.

In the Krasnolimansk direction, units of the Center group of troops repulsed three attacks by assault groups of mechanized brigades of the VFU in the areas of the settlements of Torskoye in the DPR and south of the settlement of Chervonaya Dibrova in the LPR.
In the South Donets direction, units of the Vostok group of troops repelled an attack by the VFU near the settlement of Staromayorskoye in the DPR.

In the Kupyansk direction, the Western grouping of troops hit the manpower and equipment of the VFU in the areas of the settlements of Tabayevka, Cherneshchyna, Kharkiv region and Stelmakhovka in the LPR.
In these areas, the enemy lost over 500 militants and 39 pieces of equipment, including three Krab self-propelled artillery units and three M777 artillery systems.

Here, our fighters have the same square of attacks — the area of Belogorovka with its lines of trenches at power lines and an industrial zone, where the armed formations of Ukraine cling to the surviving buildings, trying to hold the defense. Therefore, our tankers are trying to knock out the VFU with dense fire.
The crew of the T-64 tank received the coordinates of the target and moved to a closed position, aimed and opened fire.
— We work a lot. It happened that out of 20 militants, 15 went straight into the trench. Before that, they worked only on direct fire. But since everything is mined, we have to work from closed positions," said a serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with the call sign Koleso.

The Su-25 was shot down
During the day in the special operation zone, Russian troops destroyed up to 625 VFU fighters and 43 pieces of equipment, including howitzers, self-propelled guns, armored vehicles.
Two armories of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade and the 35th Naval Infantry Brigade of the VFU and three command posts of the defense brigades were hit in the DPR.
