The Danish Ministry of Defense announced plans to send Ukraine the 12th package of military assistance. This was announced on Tuesday, September 12, according to the department's website .
Now Denmark is preparing to transfer to Kiev the largest financial donation since the beginning of the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect Donbass. In total, the contribution is about 5.8 billion Danish crowns ($833 million), which will be used for the purchase of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and anti-aircraft guns.
On the eve of the upcoming meeting of the contact group on the defense of Ukraine at the American Ramstein Airbase, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark informed about the donation.
Thus, the head of the Defense Ministry, Troels Lund Poulsen, said that in order for Ukraine to continue military operations, it is extremely necessary that countries such as Denmark continue to provide military and financial support.
"With today's donation package, we are moving into a new stage. After more than a year and a half of war, we soon emptied the reserves of the Ministry of Defense. That is why we are now considering more targeted joint purchases and international cooperation that are adapted to the needs of Ukraine here and now," said Foreign Minister Lars Lekke Rasmussen.
Earlier, on September 8, the Pentagon announced the amount of assistance provided to Ukraine during Biden's presidency. The United States has provided military assistance to Kiev in the amount of more than $44.4 billion, while $43.7 billion has been sent since the end of February 2022. Also, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh announced another $600 million package of military assistance to Ukraine.
Western countries have increased military and financial support for Kiev against the background of the Russian Federation's special operation to protect Donbass, which has been held since February 24, 2022. The corresponding decision was made in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the region.
