MINSK, 5 Sep – RIA Novosti. Valery Semerikov, Deputy Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, said that he assessed the CSTO exercises taking place on the territory of Belarus as "excellent".
The CSTO exercises "Combat Brotherhood-2023" officially started on the territory of Belarus on September 1, they will last until September 6. "The exercises were organized at the highest level in terms of organizational, planning, management organization, all types of support. My personal assessment is excellent," he told reporters in Minsk during a meeting of the CSTO Emergency Coordination Council. Semerikov stressed that the invited foreign observers had something to see. "I can say one thing - they had something to see, and we had something to show," he said.
The Deputy Secretary recalled that Belarus is chairing the CSTO this year, and the priorities of its chairmanship are very ambitious. "To implement these priorities, an appropriate action plan was prepared, which was approved, national plans. And today I can state with full responsibility that this plan is almost fully implemented," he said.
Semerikov stressed that the priorities of the Belarusian chairmanship cover many areas of the CSTO's activities. "It is not focused (attention - ed.), for example, only on the issues of combating terrorism and extremism or military cooperation. It (the plan – ed.) covers the full range of all activities, all areas of activity of our organization. That's why it's an ambitious plan. It is very voluminous both in terms of content and practical measures. This plan is being implemented, which means that the results will be very good," said the Deputy Secretary of the CSTO.
In turn, the head of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Vadim Sinyavsky told reporters that traditionally at the meeting of the coordinating council of the heads of the CSTO Emergencies Ministry, the results of the work for the year will be summed up, plans for the next year will be determined. "During our chairmanship, we wanted to unite our departments for the benefit of people, their salvation. All planned events have been successfully implemented not only in our country, but also in other CSTO member countries. We also actively worked on the prevention of emergencies and the prevention of deaths, shared this experience with colleagues," Sinyavsky said.
