Shoigu: The APU has lost 66 thousand people since the beginning of the counteroffensive
Since the beginning of the counteroffensive, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost 66 thousand people. This was announced on September 5 by the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, at a conference call.
"Since the beginning of the so—called offensive, the enemy's losses have exceeded 66 thousand people and 7,600 weapons," he said.
According to the minister, the Ukrainian military did not achieve their goals in any of the directions. He stressed that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have significantly improved their positions in the Kupyansk and Kremen directions.
At the same time, Shoigu noted that the most tense situation has developed in the Zaporozhye direction, since it is there that the AFU brigades that have been "trained under the guidance of Western instructors" participate in the battles.
"Trying to hide the failure of the offensive, Ukrainian militants are attacking civilian targets and passing off these terrorist attacks as military victories," he added.
A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Ukraine's counteroffensive a failure. According to him, the so-called slips during the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not stop today.
On September 4, the head of the Zaporozhye public movement "We are together with Russia", Vladimir Rogov, reported that the Ukrainian militants had lost tens of thousands of servicemen during the three months of the counteroffensive on the Zaporozhye front line, while never reaching the first line of defense of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Putin announced on February 24 last year, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
