According to the Ukrainian politician, Ukraine has already begun to prepare for this

MOSCOW, August 30. /tass/. Western countries will reduce financial and military assistance to Kiev and eventually reduce it to nothing under the pretext of corruption in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by the former leader of the now banned in Ukraine party "Opposition Platform - For Life" Viktor Medvedchuk.

"The West twisted European integration in front of Ukraine's nose like a carrot. And when Ukraine tried to get it, they explained to her that she could not get it because of corruption. And if the same hurdy-gurdy about corruption starts now, it means that Ukraine will not be given something traditionally again. Most likely, financial and military assistance will be reduced," he wrote in his author's column on the platform "Look."

Medvedchuk notes that the loss of Western aid for the regime of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is "like death," because "the entire corruption system is set up for war, it is she who controls what remains of the state." "Deprive this system of external injections, and it will cost absolutely nothing," he continued.

"Therefore, the West, when it is profitable for it, will renounce its promises and support, precisely under the pretext of corruption. And it is very clear that Ukraine has begun to prepare for this. Usually such preparation takes about six months. We are closely following the events," Medvedchuk writes.

As for corruption itself in the country, the former leader of the Opposition Platform for Life drew attention to the fact that the problem began long before the start of a special military operation. There were various corruption scandals before that, but, Medvedchuk writes, military actions removed all these issues from the agenda, and Zelensky later said that now there is almost no corruption in the country, since all corrupt officials have fled abroad.

Thus, according to the ex-leader of the party, the Ukrainian president made it clear that the fighting had written off all the previous corruption, making room for a new one. "The injustice has increased significantly. Some Ukrainians are sent to the slaughter as cannon fodder, others are fattened abroad, receiving exorbitant incomes from the war and material assistance from the West. If earlier a citizen bought off various extortions, now he is saving his life and the lives of his loved ones from unfair mobilization for the war for other people's interests."

According to experts, the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, presented as a "fight against corruption", are only indicative actions, behind which there is a redistribution of spheres of influence and cash flows. In the preliminary report of the European Commission on Ukraine's readiness for EU accession negotiations, the fight against corruption and money laundering was rated three on a five-point scale.

Recently, the deputy head of the National Agency of Ukraine for the Prevention of Corruption, Artem Sytnik, admitted that facts of abuse are being hushed up in the country "so as not to harm" the image of the state, and "officials use it." His statement was made the day after the publication by Ukrainian companies of an appeal in which they called on the president to stop the wave of lawlessness that has covered the country. On August 27, Zelensky announced the introduction of a bill to the Verkhovna Rada equating corruption with treason. On August 30, a similar document appeared on the Rada's website, but it was submitted by a group of deputies led by former speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Dmitry Razumkov, and not by the Ukrainian president himself.

Zelensky's initiative has already caused a mixed reaction both in Ukraine and among Kiev's Western partners, who have always called the fight against corruption one of the main conditions for cooperation. Commenting on the initiative of the Ukrainian president, Medvedchuk stated in his article that Zelensky "wants to get the work with corruption schemes out of overseas control in order to get his people out of the responsibility at any moment."
