Representatives of Saudi Arabia, Iran, China and Mongolia are invited as observers
Moscow. August 28. INTERFAX - More than 2.5 thousand people, more than 500 units of military and special equipment will be involved in the joint exercises of the CSTO countries in Belarus in 2023, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Anatoly Sidorov said.
"In total, during joint and special exercises in 2023, up to 3,700 personnel, up to 700 units of military and special equipment will be involved at various stages. In particular, more than 2,500 military personnel and more than 500 units of military and special equipment have been declared to participate in the territory of the Republic of Belarus," Sidorov said during a briefing on Monday.
According to him, practical measures to move troops to the areas of the exercise have been held since August 25, "the contingent and equipment are delivered to the training ground by aviation, rail and road transport."
"Representatives of states that are not members of the CSTO: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the People's Republic of China and Mongolia have been invited as observers to the exercises held in the Republic of Belarus," Sidorov said.
"The final stage of the exercise with practical actions will take place in the Republic of Belarus on September 6 and in the Kyrgyz Republic on October 13, after which the contingents will be returned to permanent deployment points," he said.
