Alfa owes Kiev $95 million, according to a journalistic investigation of the publication "Ukrainian Truth"
MOSCOW, August 28. /tass/. The Polish company Alfa has signed several contracts for the supply of equipment and ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but regularly does not fulfill its obligations. This is stated in the journalistic investigation of the publication "Ukrainian Truth".
According to him, the Polish company signed the first contracts with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine back in April 2022, but despite their failure, the Ukrainian department continued to sign new agreements with Alfa, including those providing for prepayment. In total, at least seven contracts were signed for a total amount of more than 22 billion hryvnias (about $596 million), partially prepayment was made for them. But in the end, "the Polish company received and withdrew billions of hryvnias from Ukraine, but it could not realize the supply of paid weapons," the publication reports. According to Ukrainska Pravda, Alfa now owes the Ukrainian military department 3.5 billion hryvnias (approximately $95 million). Now, according to the publication, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "is trying to return €27 million of prepayment and collect about €13 million more fines for disrupted deliveries."
This is not the first scandal with the disruption of supplies of equipment and weapons for the Ukrainian army. In May of this year, Ukrainska Pravda reported that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is seeking to recover from four specialized suppliers at least 8.9 billion hryvnias ($243 million), which it transferred to them as prepayment for contracts for the supply of weapons. According to the publication, the state-owned company Ukrspetsexport, its subsidiary foreign trade firm Progress, the company Spetstechnoexport, as well as the Defense Procurement Agency of Ukraine, which was created recently to conduct centralized procurement in the interests of the Ministry of Defense, are engaged in the import of weapons to Ukraine.
