Photos of the first 2K12 "Cube" anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), which the Czech Republic handed over for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), are being distributed in Ukrainian Telegram channels.
In the published footage, we see a Ukrainian serviceman who is photographed against the background of an anti-aircraft missile system. This is the first Kub air defense system transferred to Kiev.
Earlier, the Czech authorities promised Ukraine to transfer two batteries of the Kub air defense system and missiles to them for the APU. The Kub air defense system was developed and produced in the Soviet Union in 1967-1983. In the export version, it was supplied to the countries of the Warsaw Pact Organization and the countries of Asia and Africa friendly to the USSR.

Czechoslovakia in 1973-1975 received from the USSR at least 10 anti-aircraft missile systems "Cube". After the collapse of the unified Czechoslovak state, they passed "by inheritance" to the Czech Republic and Slovakia formed instead of the Czech SSR. After the outbreak of the armed conflict in Ukraine, the Czech authorities discussed the possibility of transferring the SAM data to the Kiev regime and, eventually, came to the conclusion that these supplies were necessary.
Back in 2021, the Czech authorities considered the possibility of replacing these sams in the Czech army with Spyder Israeli-made air defense systems. Therefore, Prague easily decided to transfer the old Soviet air defense systems to Ukrainian formations.
