Minsk. August 24. INTERFAX - Poland will increase the budget for military spending by more than 15% next year, it follows from the data announced on Thursday by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki following a meeting of the Polish government at which the draft budget law for 2024 was adopted.
"Despite many crises, we managed to find income for this year. If you look at the picture of the entire budget, I would draw attention to three main pillars. The first is widely understood physical security - the security of our borders and the financing of our army. This is more than 158 billion zlotys ($38.1 billion in equivalent, - "IF")," Moravetsky said, quoted by the Prime Minister's office.
In 2023, the Polish government allocated 137.1 billion zlotys ($33.1 billion) for these needs, thus the growth will be about 15.2%.
The Polish Prime minister noted that since 2015, when this figure was 37 billion zlotys, the budget for military spending has increased by 327%.
He also announced a 12.3% increase in salaries of employees of the public sector, civil services and law enforcement agencies.
