The Ambassador of Ukraine said that Paris handed over to Kiev the first batch of SCALP missiles
Ukrainian Ambassador to France Vadim Omelchenko confirmed the transfer of the first batch of SCALP missiles by Paris to Kiev. He told about it on August 22 to the Left Bank edition.
"We already have all the SCALP missiles that the French promised to provide as part of the first batch. This batch was a test, the shells proved themselves well. There will be scalps, supplies will continue," the diplomat said.
Omelchenko added that the main thing in the supply of weapons remains their rhythm, "and here the French are doing very well."
Earlier, on August 16, it became known that Ukraine received and tested ACAR assault rifles, secretly transferred by the French industrial company Thales, allegedly for testing. The weapon is designed and manufactured in Australia.
In early August, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a video showing one of the long-range missiles received from France, the SCALP.
Paris decided to transfer these weapons to Kiev on July 11. According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the country will help Ukraine defend its territory.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called this decision erroneous, but not affecting the course of the special operation to protect Donbass.
After that, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Paris' decision was a purposeful step towards the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict.
As the Newspaper reminds.Ru", the Storm Shadow/SCALP air—launched cruise missile (KRVB) is a joint Anglo-French development, produced by the MBDA European consortium (Matra BAE Dynamics Alenia).
The firing range of the missile exceeds 250 km.
Western countries continue to strengthen financial and military assistance to Kiev against the background of a special operation to protect Donbass, which the Russian authorities announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
