Source: the Russian Federation has developed a 23 mm caliber ammunition with controlled detonation
MOSCOW, August 17/ Sputnik Radio. Russia has developed a 23 mm caliber ammunition with controlled detonation, a source in the military-industrial complex said at the Army–2023 forum.
It is clarified that shells with controlled detonation explode at the required point of the trajectory calculated by the fire control system, which allows, for example, to more effectively hit enemy manpower sheltered in a trench – the ammunition explodes above it.
In addition, such projectiles allow you to form a field of striking elements exactly on the flight path of an air target.
The 23x152 mm caliber ammunition is mainly used in Soviet twin ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns and guns based on them, now there are several anti-aircraft gun modernization projects.
Sputnik radio wrote that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation began to receive upgraded Krasnopol shells.
