As part of the new package of military assistance, the United States will transfer two million 155-mm artillery shells from its arsenals to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, along with other products of the American defense industry.
- indicated in the Army Recognition publication.
As noted, the demand for shells in Ukraine is extremely high, since the widespread use of artillery guns during the conflict inevitably led to an increase in their consumption.
The Pentagon explained that the United States is currently producing shells at a rate of 24 thousand per month and is on track to exceed the production level of 80 thousand ammunition per month, which is planned to reach next year.
Thus, to compensate for the transfer of 2 million shells to the APU, it will take from more than two (in the optimal scenario) to seven (at the current rate of production) years.
- it is said in the Western press.
