Laser
The Chinese edition of the South China Morning Post reported on a breakthrough in the development of laser technologies – the creation of a new cooling system for a combat laser. According to journalists, it is so effective that it allows you to emit a laser beam "indefinitely." If so, this technology turns the laser from an experimental installation into a formidable weapon, since it becomes possible to fire at the target for longer.
The problem of overheating of laser weapons is not new and has not yet been solved. Everything depends on the radiation power, the reduction of which makes the laser useless as a weapon. But the higher the power, the more heat is generated, which quickly disables individual units of the installation. The article describes that Chinese engineers conducted a cooling system through a laser that uses gas. This allows you to maintain the temperature of the installation in an acceptable range of values, which makes it possible to emit light for longer than a few seconds. Such a system can be used as an alternative to anti—aircraft missiles - for example, to destroy satellites in low orbit. This is an important goal for the military of many countries of the world, as satellite systems have become the basis of intelligence and communications on the modern battlefield.
