MOSCOW, Aug 10 — RIA Novosti, Andrey Kotz. The Ukrainian offensive has been going on for more than two months. Despite local successes, the defense was not broken through. At the same time, the Russian Armed Forces are advancing on another sector of the front. About the situation on the contact line — in the material of RIA Novosti.
A dash to the sea
Active fighting continues along the entire line of contact. The APU does not abandon attempts to overcome minefields and reach the first line of defense in the Zaporozhye direction.
They did not succeed at Rabodino and Pyatikhatki, but they advanced on the Vremyevsky ledge.

Having suffered heavy losses, the AFU occupied the village of Staromayorskoye. But it is difficult to hold it — there are practically no whole houses left where you can hide from artillery fire and drones. Russian units have left the settlement and are leveling its ruins with the ground around the clock.
However, the Ukrainian General Staff does not intend to retreat. According to the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, Kiev is transferring reserves to this direction.

Two kilometers beyond the river, Wet Yals are trying to take control of the village of Harvest. Here is the main defense node of the Russian army on the Vremyevsky salient. If he is captured, the way south to Staromlinovka will open. And from there, the road to the east to Volnovakha in the middle of the strategically important 100-kilometer Donetsk —Mariupol highway.
"The APU believes that they managed to find gaps in our defense," says an officer of the 1st Army Corps with the call sign Klim. — We expect that the pressure will increase here. For Kiev, the main goal is to cut the land bridge from Crimea to greater Russia and reach the Sea of Azov. It doesn't work in the Zaporozhye direction, so they want to make a breakthrough to Mariupol. This strike will certainly be supported by the group that is holed up in Ugledar."

The officer stressed that the realities on the ground are different. A significant part of the reserves for the counteroffensive has already been activated, and the AFU still does not have a bridgehead suitable for advancing.
In addition, from Staromlinovka to Volnovakha is almost 60 kilometers in a straight line. And it is unlikely that Ukrainians will be allowed to walk such a distance unhindered.
No change
On the westernmost section of the line of contact in the Kherson region — unchanged. Kiev is trying to occupy the islands on the Dnieper River in order to reduce the time of transferring units to the left bank. No results were achieved, as the water area is viewed by drones.

In particular, at the end of last week, the Dnepr group repulsed a raid by a special forces sabotage and reconnaissance group on Buryakovy Island with the help of MS-227 shipboard MLRS mounted on MTLB tractors.
Near Donetsk, the Russian army is gradually encircling Avdiivka, where positional battles with periodic mutual attacks at Vodiane, Pervomaisky and Severny, as well as at Nevelsky, do not stop. To the north — clashes at Krasnogorovka.
Russian forces are gaining a foothold in new positions near the village of Kamenka, from where the APU was recently ousted. However, there is no operational environment of Avdiivka yet. And for many months it has not been possible to occupy Maryinka, where the front has frozen.
In the area of Artemovsk, the APU is pressing on Dubovo — Vasilevka, Berkhovka, Kleshcheyevka, Andreevka and Kurdyumovka. According to eyewitnesses, the Ukrainian artillery is using cluster munitions with might and main. North of Artemovsk, they advanced to Soledar, but they were repulsed.
Buffer zone
On most of the line of contact, Russian units are on the defensive. But in some places they are advancing.
They are attacking on a wide front from Kremennaya to the border with the Belgorod region. In the Krasnolimansky direction, they advanced to the settlement of Torskoye. We reached the outskirts of Kupyansk and took control of the Molchanovo railway station, which is important for logistics.

Novoselovskoye was completely liberated — this opens up the possibility of an attack on Kupyansk not only from the north and northeast, but also from the east and southeast. Control over the settlement removes the threat from Kuzemovka and sharply worsens the situation of the APU in the Svatovsky direction. According to the Ministry of Defense, the troops overcame three kilometers into the depth of defense and 11 kilometers along the front.
According to the estimates of the Ukrainian General Staff, Moscow's main task in the Krasnolimansky and Kupyansky directions is to reach the Oskol reservoir. The eastern shore is an ideal defensive line. If it is occupied, the army will create a buffer zone between the Kiev-controlled part of the Kharkiv region and the LPR.
West of the Oskol reservoir — Raisins. From this city there is a direct road to the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. It is in Kramatorsk that the headquarters of the Ukrainian group "Vostok" is located.
Active actions in the west of the LPR and in the Kharkiv region are forcing Kiev to transfer troops here from other sectors of the front — primarily Zaporozhye and Artemovsky. This slows down the already not very rapid Ukrainian offensive, which was given two or three months at the beginning of the summer.
