TSAMTO, August 2. For the upcoming International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2023", CAMTO publishes statistics on Russia's positioning among the world's leading exporters in 29 categories of conventional weapons.
The assessment was carried out for the following 29 categories of conventional weapons: multi-purpose fighters, attack aircraft, tanker aircraft, BPA aircraft, military transport aircraft, AWACS aircraft, reconnaissance aircraft, TCB, UBS, MALE and HALE class UAVs, tactical UAVs, mini and micro UAVs, attack helicopters, PLO helicopters, heavy transport helicopters, multi-purpose helicopters, BNK OK, NAPL, boats and small amphibious ships, MBT, BBM, armored vehicles, MRAP class armored vehicles, ATGMS, MLRS, guns and mortars, ZRS/SAM, SAU, MANPADS.
According to the CAMTO estimate, by the value of the actual export of VIVT in 2014-2021. Russia is present in the top three countries in 14 categories out of 29 (first place in 4 categories, second place in 6 categories, third place in 4 categories).
Russia ranks first in the categories of attack aircraft (44.34% of the market), MBT (47.84%), MLRS (23.96%) and MANPADS (55.06%).
Russia ranks second in the categories of attack helicopters (25.68%), heavy transport helicopters (7.62%), NAPL (29.00%), BBM (18.45%), ATGM (26.85%) and air defense systems (28.94%).
Russia ranks third in the categories of multi-purpose fighters (14.88%), tanker aircraft (1.83%), multi-purpose helicopters (15.17%) and boats (10.42%).
Russia is not among the top three countries in the export of conventional weapons in the following 15 categories: basic patrol aircraft (7th place), military transport aircraft (4th place), AWACS aircraft (Russia is not present in this category), reconnaissance aircraft (Russia is not present in this category), training aircraft (Russia is not present in this category), combat training aircraft (4th place), MALE and HALE class UAVs (Russia is not present in this category), tactical UAVs (Russia is not present in this category), mini and micro UAVs (5th place), anti-submarine and maritime patrol helicopters (5th place), BNK OK (9th place), armored vehicles (15th place), MRAP class armored vehicles (10th place), guns and mortars (11th place), ZAU (4th place).
For comparison, below are data for the USA (1st place) and France (3rd place).
USA
An analysis of the volume of global supplies of VIVT by individual categories in 2014-2021 confirms the unconditional leadership of the United States. Of the 29 categories listed above, the USA is present in 23 of them, and in 16 categories the USA takes first place, in 6 categories – second place, in one category – third place.
According to the actual volume of deliveries of VIVT in 2014-2021, the United States ranks first in 16 of the following categories of weapons: multi-purpose fighters (54.43% of the world's fighter supplies), BPA aircraft (79.01%), military transport aircraft (49.56%), AWACS aircraft (59.65%), reconnaissance aircraft (75.85%), MALE and HALE class UAVs (36.48%), mini and micro UAVs (68.99%), attack helicopters (60.07%), PLO helicopters (68.88%), heavy transport helicopters (92.38%), multi-purpose helicopters (35.22%), armored vehicles (32.17%), MRAP class armored vehicles (44.25%), ATGM (49.10%), ZRS (52.20%) and ZAU (52.48%). Moreover, in 10 of these 16 categories, the US share exceeds 50%, that is, in 10 categories of weapons, the US has an overwhelming advantage over other exporting countries.
The second place is occupied by the USA in the categories of tanker aircraft (13.03%), TCB (21.08%), tactical UAVs (13.68%), MBT (24.952%), MLRS (18.24%) and MANPADS (14.28%).
The United States ranks third in the category of attack aircraft (17.25%).
The USA is not present in the leading three countries only in 6 categories: UBS, BNK OK, NAPL, boats and small amphibious ships, BBM, guns and mortars.
France
According to the value of the actual export of VIVT in 2014-2021 . France is present in the top three countries in 8 categories out of 29 (second place – in 4 categories, third place – in 4 categories).
France ranks second in the categories of multi-purpose fighters (17.72%), multi-purpose helicopters (26.88%), BNK OK (17.99%) and armored vehicles (25.39%).
France ranks third in the categories of reconnaissance aircraft (6.61%), PLO helicopters (7.90%), NAPL (13.93%) and MRAP class armored vehicles (13.84%).
