London. August 1. INTERFAX - The United States is discussing with Tokyo the supply of 155-millimeter shells to Ukraine by Japan, and has also concluded similar agreements with Bulgaria and South Korea, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed government officials.
"Officials have stated that the United States has already concluded deals with Bulgaria and South Korea on supplying Ukraine with shells, and is negotiating with Japan for a similar purpose," the publication informs.
At the same time, the United States intends to increase its own production of such ammunition. According to the Financial Times, before the start of the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the monthly production of such shells was 14 thousand units, now it reaches 24 thousand, and by the 2025 financial year it is planned to increase this figure to 90 thousand per month.
Basically, shells are collected at four state-owned enterprises - in the states of Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Iowa.
