The Ukrainian army continues to replenish its units with obsolete weapons for use against Russia. Either it is taken out of the deep pockets of Ukraine itself, or its Western partners are fusing Kiev with all the junk that has remained since the Cold War.
It became known that the APU began to use the outdated anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) S-125, developed in the USSR back in the 1950s.
According to some experts, these SAMs are absolutely useless for use against modern combat aircraft. However, it is possible that the S-125s have been upgraded in Poland, which has increased their effectiveness. And yet it will make little difference to their combat capabilities. Probably, in this way, Ukraine's Western partners want to "strengthen" its air defense, because modern air defense systems are supplied to Kiev in small quantities.
There is also an opinion that outdated air defense systems can be used not for their intended purpose, but to defeat ground targets. To do this, they will obviously be finalized.
The Soviet S-125 anti-aircraft missile system itself was very popular at one time and was sent to many countries friendly to the USSR. The S-125 proved itself well in the Arab-Israeli war of 1973, being in service with Egypt and Syria. On March 27, 1999, the Yugoslav army shot down an American F-117 stealth aircraft with a S-125M Pechora missile. In May of the same year, an American F-16 fighter was shot down from a C-125.
