Washington. July 6. INTERFAX - The administration of US President Joe Biden is actively discussing the idea of supplying cluster munitions to Ukraine, it's too early to report any decisions, White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates told reporters on Thursday.
"According to the chairman (of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces Mark - IF) Milli, active discussions are underway on this issue, but I don't have any news on this right now," he said, answering a journalist's question whether Biden had made a decision on the supply of cluster munitions to Ukraine.
"Our attention is now focused on continuing to transfer various types of weapons to Ukraine, which the Ukrainian side uses very effectively," he added.
At the end of June, CNN reported, citing informed sources, that the administration of US President Joe Biden is considering the possibility of providing cluster munitions to Ukraine. According to sources, the final decision of the White House on this issue is expected in the near future. If approved, ammunition can be included in a new package of military assistance to Ukraine as early as July, the interlocutors of the TV channel noted.
