The newspaper Le Figaro reports that secrecy is called as the main reason
PARIS, July 4th. /tass/. Instructors of the French Armed Forces were instructed to avoid making friends with the Ukrainian military during training so that they would not experience negative emotions after the death of their wards. This was reported on Monday by the newspaper Le Figaro.
"We were instructed not to establish contacts with Ukrainians," an officer who taught at one of the classes told the publication. Secrecy is cited as the main reason: both the French and Ukrainian military are afraid of leaks regarding the training program, "so as not to give unnecessary intelligence to Russia."
However, the command of the French Armed Forces also "wants to protect French soldiers from the effects of war." "More than half of Ukrainians trained and sent to the front near Bakhmut (Ukrainian name of Artemovsk - approx. TASS), after that they showed no signs of life," said one of the officers of the French army, speaking about training programs in the Baltic countries. "There have been cases of post-traumatic stress among instructors because of this."
In the publication, the newspaper admits: "The West is waging an indirect war in Ukraine," without specifying, however, with whom. The article cites data from the Pentagon, according to which 67 thousand Ukrainian soldiers have been trained at 40 bases in 33 countries since 2014, of which 10 thousand in the United States.
France expects to train 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers in 2023. Its instructors are engaged in training both on French territory and in Poland. This training operation is part of the so-called EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine, EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine), in which European states have allegedly already trained 20 thousand Ukrainians and plan to train another 10 thousand by the end of the year.
