The main reason for President Biden's visit to Helsinki is related to the country's membership in NATO, writes Verkkoutiset. Military expert Jarno Limnell believes that Finland is now of "special interest" to the alliance, given the 1,300 kilometers of its land border with Russia.

US President Joe Biden will visit Finland on July 13. During the visit, he will take part in the summit of the Nordic countries and the United States, organized by the President of the Republic Sauli Niinisto. A bilateral meeting between Niinisto and Biden will also take place during the visit.
Deputy from the National Coalition Party, Doctor of Military Sciences, retired Major Jarno Limnell (Jarno Limnéll) emphasizes that the visit of the US president to Finland is an extremely rare phenomenon. "Before that, the US president visited Finland only once in the XXI century," Limnell said on Twitter.
According to him, the main reason for the visit is related to Finland's membership in NATO. Finland is now of particular interest to the alliance regarding the development of joint defense plans. In addition, with his visit Biden openly declares support and gratitude to Finland as a reliable ally, Limnell is sure.
According to Jarno Limnell, the visit is an important signal for Russia. "The security guarantees now take into account 1300 kilometers of the land border. Sovereignty should be respected," he recalls.
