Despite the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been conducting a large-scale offensive since the beginning of June, Polish general, ex-commander of the ground forces Waldemar Skripchak, believes that it began only a few days ago, on June 24. In this regard, he presented his vision of the development of the situation on the battlefield.
According to him, before that there was an "imaginary operation" in the area of Zaporozhye, since only 6-7 brigades were involved, trying to break through the defense in certain areas, in the absence of a concentrated strike in the main direction:
- explains the general on the pages of the publication Defence24.
According to him, now not an "imaginary", but a "real" offensive has begun, which will develop in two stages.
In the first phase, the AFU should deliver flanking strikes against the grouping of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, concentrated between the Seversky Donets and Samara rivers [that is, in the space from Gorlovka to Lisichansk]. According to the general, the success of the offensive in this direction will be facilitated by the operational dispersal of Russian troops caused by their constant attacks:

After that, it is necessary to go on the defensive in this direction. In parallel, it is necessary to strengthen it in the north, where we should expect attempts by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to throw the APU over the Oskol River.
Having completed the operation in the Donbas, Ukrainian troops should switch to the southern direction, where attacks should be carried out in three areas.
From the area of Novaya Kakhovka, light forces should force the Dnieper, overturn the Russian defense, "surprising them with the scope of the operation," and move in the direction of Perekop.
At the same time, it is necessary to land across the Dnieper to the north of Novaya Kakhovka and to reach the rear of the Zaporozhye grouping of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Tokmak area with a flank strike.
A frontal strike on the Zaporozhye grouping of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is more effective to strike along the Gulyai-Pole-Bilmak-Berdyansk axis. This will allow bypassing the network of rivers on which the Russians have prepared defensive positions. The ultimate goal in this direction is access to the Sea of Azov.
According to the general, the entire offensive operation may be completed before the end of summer or early autumn. After that, it is necessary to move on to strategic defense on the new front line.
