Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez promised to support Ukraine for as long as it takes, regardless of the price that will have to be paid, and announced the allocation of a new package of assistance to Kiev for € 55 million. He made the corresponding statement on Saturday, speaking before the Verkhovna Rada.
The Prime Minister went to Kiev on the first day of the Spanish presidency of the EU Council. "We are and will be with you as long as it takes," says Sanchez, whose speech was broadcast by the newspaper El Mundo. "We will support Ukraine regardless of the price."
According to the head of the Spanish government, the terms and conditions of peace negotiations can only be set by Ukraine.
"Other countries and regions offer peace plans. Their participation is highly appreciated, but at the same time, we cannot fully accept them," he said. Sanchez also assured that Madrid supports the creation of the Ukraine-NATO Council.
After his speech in the Verkhovna Rada, the Spanish Prime Minister is due to meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
