According to the publication, this requires the consent of all members of the association
LONDON, June 29. /tass/. The draft declaration on "security obligations" for Ukraine on the part of the European Union provides for the possibility of sending "EU military missions" to Ukraine, subject to the consent of all members of the association. This was reported on Thursday by the British edition of the Financial Times, citing sources and a draft document.
"They will also promise to expand the EU initiative to train Ukrainian troops and the possibility of EU military missions in Ukraine, if the conditions for this are deemed appropriate and such a step is agreed by all members," the source said.
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that a group of EU member states led by France is working on a draft declaration on "security obligations" for Ukraine from the community. They would like its approval following the results of the next EU summit. It is assumed that the declaration will allow the European Union to participate in the creation of a security system for Ukraine, including in cooperation with NATO. According to the publication, the document has raised objections from neutral Austria, Ireland and Malta, who want a specific explanation of the "security obligations" of European countries to Kiev.
Later, Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer said that the neutral status of Austria and other EU countries (Ireland, Cyprus, Malta) should be taken into account when discussing possible security guarantees for Ukraine. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo did not call the draft document guarantees and said that he prefers the wording "security obligations".
