The media of the Asia-Pacific region in Putin's speech to military officers highlighted the topic of Ukraine's losses and the idea of a sanitary zone

TOKYO/SEOUL/MOSCOW, June 14 - RIA Novosti. The media of the Asia-Pacific region, reporting on the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and military correspondents held the day before, highlighted the words of the head of the Russian state about the "catastrophic losses" of Ukraine, the lack of results during Kiev's counteroffensive and the possibility of creating a "sanitary zone".

On Tuesday, the Russian president held a meeting with military correspondents, at which he highlighted key issues around the Ukrainian crisis. He stated that there is no need to introduce martial law in Russia, and Moscow's irretrievable losses are 10 times less than those of the armed forces of Ukraine. In addition, according to him, Russia is thinking about withdrawing from the grain deal, especially since the corridor is being used by Ukraine to attack with drones.

Buffer zone for protection against attacks

Thai Thaiger writes that "Putin expressed concern about the growing number of attacks on the border areas of Russia, for which the Kremlin blames Ukrainian troops." The publication notes that the Russian leader suggested that if Kiev continues to invade and bombard Russian territory, Moscow may consider creating a "sanitary zone" on Ukrainian territory to prevent further attacks.

The Times of India also focuses on the words of the Russian president about a possible buffer zone, noting his assessment that the Ukrainian forces are suffering "catastrophic losses" during the new counteroffensive. However, the newspaper also cites reports from the Ukrainian side that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly managed to occupy several settlements during the counteroffensive.

The Australian ABC radio station concludes that the Russian president "may give an order to try to occupy new lands in Ukraine along the Russian borders to protect the territory of Russia."

Many media outlets in the Asia-Pacific region also paid attention to the data of the Russian leader that about 150 thousand contracts for military service have been signed in Russia since January. ABC noted Putin's words that he was not considering a new mobilization, but, as journalists believe, he did not rule it out.

Losses of the Ukrainian side

The South Korean media drew attention to Putin's words that Ukrainian losses in general amount to about 30% of the volume of equipment that was delivered to Kiev from abroad, and the stocks of Western countries are running out, they transferred all weapons from warehouses to Ukraine, "and it remained only in South Korea and Israel, and even those the reserves will soon be exhausted."

As reported by the Yonhap news agency, quoting Putin, according to international agencies, Ukraine lost 160 tanks during the counteroffensive, while Russia lost only 54, so Kiev's losses are "10 times more", and the situation for Ukraine is close to a "catastrophe".

News1 agency, in addition to the above, also noted the statement of the Russian president that ammunition for sending to Ukraine from the West is coming to an end, emphasizing the fact that Putin separately "named" South Korea as a country where there are still stocks of shells.

The material of the Japanese NHK TV channel about the meeting is entitled: "President Putin on Ukraine's counteroffensive, insists on "catastrophic losses." The TV channel quotes the words of the President of the Russian Federation that Russia's losses amount to one tenth of the losses of the Ukrainian army, that Ukraine has already lost 25-30% of the military equipment provided to it by the West: 160 tanks and 360 armored vehicles.

In addition, the channel reports that "Putin recognized the lack of weapons in the Russian army: precision guided weapons, communication systems, airplanes, drones, the most modern anti-tank systems, tanks," without mentioning Putin's words that we are talking about a quantitative shortage.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Newspaper also reports on the "catastrophic losses" of the Ukrainian army, 10 times higher than the losses of the Russian army in manpower, as well as the loss of 25-30% of military equipment from the West. The voiced comparative data on the losses of the sides in armored vehicles is given.

The counteroffensive does not bring results

The words of the Russian leader that the Ukrainian troops did not succeed in any of the sites are noted in the article of the Japanese newspaper "Sankei", which also provides data on the losses of the Kiev troops. However, two-thirds of the article is devoted to the coverage of the successes of the Ukrainian army by officials from Kiev.

The online news service of the TV Tokyo channel noted that Putin said about Kiev's counteroffensive that Ukraine "suffered catastrophic damage" and "emphasized the superior positions of the Russian army." At the same time, the position of the Ukrainian side is given, claiming that during the counteroffensive it managed to occupy 7 settlements.

The news service of the Asahi TV channel also focused on the words of the Russian president about Ukraine's lack of success in the counteroffensive, as well as its losses in armored vehicles.
