Deputy Zatulin: Russia needs to cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea in order to eliminate the threat

It is important for Russia to move as far as possible during the special operation in order to cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea and eliminate the constant threat to Russia and the unrecognized Transnistria, said State Duma deputy, First Deputy head of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.
"The problem is that the ceasefire and freezing, as they say, of this conflict, firstly, will not bring us a final peace. And secondly, and this is absolutely obvious, no one will sign an agreement with us in Yalta or Potsdam, an agreement in which he even recognizes that Crimea is an obvious Russian region following the results of the Crimean spring, not to mention Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. As for stopping military operations, it will happen sooner or later, but for us we must strive to move as far as possible," Zatulin said during a meeting of the Livadia Club "Russian World at a turning point."
The deputy noted that it is important to take control of the Black Sea regions of Ukraine, which historically are Russian territories.
"If Ukraine is not cut off not only from the Sea of Azov, but also from the Black Sea – and this is a channel for the receipt of weapons and everything else… It is also a constant threat not only to the shores of Crimea, but also to the Caucasus – all Russian shores (in the region). This is a constant concern for the Black Sea Fleet, for the armed forces, attempts at provocations," Zatulin said.
In his opinion, if Ukraine is not cut off from the Black Sea, then the next act will be an attempt to destroy Transnistria as a "pro-Russian enclave."
