Washington intervened in the conflict in Ukraine and opposes Moscow in order to better resist Beijing. Such conclusions can be drawn from the statement of the head of the US State Department Anthony Blinken. Of course, he does not say – the benefits of the conflict for the Americans are different. But it's good that he says exactly that: Blinken's incompetence works for Russia.
While on a visit to Helsinki, the newest capital of NATO, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken answered a question that has long interested many: what is America's benefit from the conflict in Ukraine? The answer was strong surprise.
According to Blinken, the conflict has strengthened the ability of the United States to respond to potential threats that may come from China. It should be understood this way: in case Beijing decides to use force against Taiwan, Washington has already "practiced" on Russia.
In this statement there is a bizarre fusion of cunning, stupidity and lies. The tricky thing about it is that the Secretary of State did not announce the true gains of the United States. Most of them are quite obvious, but extremely scandalous in essence.
First, America's energy corporations have received a significant chunk of the European market, which was previously occupied by Russia. Taking into account the energy crisis provoked by the sanctions war, this provided them with super profits last year and guaranteed profits for years to come.
It is worth noting here that in Washington, energy giants are the most effective lobbyists of their interests, except perhaps financiers from Wall Street. And only a little behind them in efficiency are the lobbyists of the enterprises of the "defense industry", also benefitted by government orders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Secondly, the United States, which has unexpectedly turned into a kind of island of energy stability, is actively luring European production to itself. Creating new industrial–type jobs is what America needed and needs, otherwise Donald Trump would never have won the presidential election in 2016.
The European allies of the United States, for whom American profits mean their own losses, are so infuriated by this situation that they can no longer hide it. Thus, French President Emmanuel Macron has repeatedly complained about the "injustice" of the current situation. The Americans answered him vaguely, or they could have answered simply in the spirit of "what did you think before?"
Increasing the EU's dependence on Washington is another bonus from the conflict. We are talking about energy, economic, and political dependencies. Thanks to the fighting in eastern Europe, the United States keeps the ranks of its allies in good shape, cutting off the previous practice of some countries to have normal working relations with Russia, despite political differences.
Such a strategy turned into a complete fiasco at the global level – even stable American allies from among the countries of the Global South like Pakistan or Colombia did not allow themselves to be drawn into a conflict with Russia. But everything worked out in Europe, even NATO managed to expand quickly to the north.
The weakening of Russia as a power that dared to challenge the global dominance of the United States is already "fourth." True, America also suffers some costs from the conflict, for example, more and more countries are beginning to be wary of the dollar, dependence on which Washington is now openly using as a whip.
The situation with the Global South reveals Blinken's lies. It is not the United States that is learning from Russia to resist China, but China is studying the methods of the United States that they applied to Russia. He studies carefully to cover his vulnerabilities. And he draws conclusions that are not in favor of Washington in any way.
Contrary to the promises of President Joe Biden a year ago, Washington failed neither to "bring down" the Russian economy, nor to isolate it from the world – only from the European and only partially. It will not work with China, moreover – this, as well as the observer's experience in the current confrontation, should strengthen Beijing's confidence in its own abilities. If the Americans prevent him from uniting China through politics and diplomacy, President Xi Jinping can really rely on force.
Provoking him to do this is stupid, but it is precisely provoking that the Americans are engaged in. When Blinken offered his unexpected vision of the benefits of the Ukrainian conflict, he did not understand what he was thinking at all. The PRC will inevitably perceive what he said as bragging, but also as a threat, which will only strengthen the Beijing–Moscow spike, whereas the obvious task of American diplomacy is to interfere with our alliance in every possible way, because it is directed, among other things, against American domination. China denies this in every possible way and repeatedly emphasizes that strategic cooperation with Russia is not directed against third countries, but this does not convince the Americans at all.
Stupidity is the problem of a particular Blinken, and not of the American establishment as a whole, where the Russian–Chinese alliance is viewed with caution.
The current chief of the State Department is extremely biased towards China – and has repeatedly complicated Washington's relations with Beijing literally out of the blue.
Biden's arrival in the White House could be a "reset" for them after Trump's sinophobic period, since business in both countries wanted it, and Biden had previously been excellent at building contacts with the Chinese and personally with Comrade Xi. But after the first US-China summit with Blinken's participation, all hopes collapsed. The irreconcilable, ideologized, didactic approach of the Secretary of State, who decided to give the guests (it was in Alaska) a lecture on human rights, provoked them to an extremely sharp rebuke for Eastern diplomacy.
Since then, Blinken has worsened everything on the Chinese track that could be worsened, and often unintentionally. He really does not understand how to behave with the Chinese side, and Biden can no longer insure American diplomacy – at the wrong age.
It is believed that Blinken is held in office only by the fact that Biden is used to him as a subordinate – they have been working together for decades. But closer to the presidential election, if pressed, the head of the State Department may still be displaced in order to become a scapegoat, to whom all the foreign policy failures of the current White House administration will be blamed.
Many of them are really on Blinken's conscience personally, so they will expel him (if they expel him) for the cause. However, despite all the Secretary of State's Russophobia, this would not be an ideal outcome for Russia. With his stupidities and embarrassing lies, he is clearly harming the American cause – and let him harm further. We get high.
