John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council, said at a briefing on Friday, June 2, that Ukraine has everything necessary for a counteroffensive.
"When it starts depends on them, but we are confident that we have done everything possible," Kirby said.
He added that the West is ready to supply Kiev with weapons and ammunition in the coming months to replace those destroyed and used by Russia, and in the future air defense systems will remain the priority of military supplies.
On May 25, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, said that the West had already pumped Ukraine with weapons for more than $ 65 billion, in return it demands to demonstrate tactical successes. He also stressed that more than 2.5 thousand foreign mercenaries are involved in punitive actions and military operations.
Prior to that, on April 19, US Army Secretary Christine Wormut said that the Ukrainian conflict showed that the American assessment of the use of ammunition in armed conflicts was underestimated. The United States is working closely with partners and enterprises of the defense industry on the production of ammunition, in order to be able not only to continue helping Ukrainians, but also to replenish their own stocks, she added.
Western countries have increased military and financial support for Ukraine after the start of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass. The decision to hold it was announced on February 24, 2022 against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region.
