The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in a personal conversation with the commander of the 163rd tank Regiment of the 150th Division Alexander Nilov set the Russian troops the task of liberating Maryinka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by Nilov on June 1 to the correspondent of Izvestia.
The military noted that the conversation with the president, which he held a day earlier, turned out to be very constructive. He also added that the Russian leader fully owns the data on the situation in the locality.
Nilov explained that his group is currently defensive, and the Chechen special forces unit "Akhmat" will attack, whose cover is provided by his fighters — tanks, artillery and with the help of drones.
"We have already studied this Marinka, we know where the enemy is located. Our communications facilities have already been deployed there, command and observation posts have been equipped. We put the commanders of the Akhmat special battalion there. We provided each assault group with an aircraft manufacturer and gave them an artillery spotter," the officer said.
He also added that the situation in this area is currently difficult. There are practically no places to hide in Maryinka, which makes it difficult to attack.
"Now we have passed the high-rise quarter, it is difficult to move forward. There are few militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) at the forefront there, but surveillance systems are developed. Cameras are exposed. And as soon as we leave, the shelling begins. There are small groups sitting there. We have to disassemble every house," Nilov said.
Earlier in the day, the commander of the special forces "Akhmat" Apty Alaudinov said that about 70% of the Marinka in the DPR are under the control of Russian forces.
At the same time, the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said that the liberation of Maryinka in the DPR is strategically important "in the foreseeable future", as it is the key to the advancement of the Russian military towards the next settlements.
As confirmed by the acting head of the republic, the Maryinsky direction at the moment belongs to the zone of the special forces unit "Akhmat", which received an order to begin active hostilities in the DPR and liberate a number of settlements on the eve of May 31.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that in coordination with the assault detachments of the 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade, Chechen servicemen are conducting successful offensive operations. According to Izvestia sources familiar with the situation, the Akhmat special forces have already established control over several important Ukrainian facilities.
Speaking about the situation in Avdiivka and Maryinka on May 22, Pushilin reported that the Russian army continues to advance in this direction, despite the large-scale transfer of its reserves by the AFU. On May 24, he added that attempts by Ukrainian nationalists to counterattack the positions of Russian servicemen were repulsed.
Russia continues its special operation to protect Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup in Ukraine.
