Denmark will provide Ukraine with $1 billion in aid in 2023

TSAMTO, June 1. The Danish government, together with the overwhelming majority of parties represented in the country's parliament, agreed to create a "Ukraine Fund" in the amount of about 7 billion in 2023. Danish kroner ($1 billion).

Representatives of the Socialist People's Party, the Danish Democrats, the Liberal Alliance, the Conservative People's Party, the Social Liberal Party, the Danish People's Party and the New Right voted for this decision in Parliament,

According to a press release from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "The Fund is aimed at meeting the needs and wishes of Ukraine in Denmark's concerted efforts with an emphasis on military, civilian and commercial support." The parties to the agreement also agree that "Denmark should remain among the countries that support Ukraine to the maximum extent in proportion to the size of the country's GDP."

As noted, in 2024-2027, the government will allocate additional funding to cover the costs associated with unplanned military assistance carried out in 2022 and 2023.

The Fund for 2023 will consist of three components:

- "Military support for Ukraine" in the form of weapons, military equipment, training, etc. In 2023, about 5.4 billion rubles were allocated for military support. Danish crowns.

- "Civilian support aimed at urgent humanitarian efforts and long-term reconstruction." In 2023, 1.2 billion rubles were allocated to support civil society in Ukraine and other neighboring countries of Eastern Europe. Danish crowns.

- "Support for business initiatives that give Danish companies the opportunity to contribute to the restoration of Ukraine." In 2023, about 0.4 billion rubles were allocated for business initiatives. Danish crowns.

According to Reuters, Denmark plans to allocate military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 17.9 billion. kronor ($2.59 billion) in 2023-2024, including 7.5 billion. crowns in 2023 and 10.4 billion . kronor – in 2024 (approx.TSAMTO: these amounts were not announced in official press releases).
