Ukraine's allies are unanimous in the need to supply the Kiev regime with weapons, but split on the issue of using military assistance for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. In France, a high-ranking official spoke out against the use of military aid against Russia, writes Bloomberg on May 31.
"While France supports Ukraine's right to self-defense, French military support should not be used to attack Russia," the French official said. He added that if Ukraine wants to do more on its own, France has no right to dictate to Kiev how to conduct this struggle," the agency quoted him as saying.
Another European diplomat added that Ukraine's partner countries, as a rule, do not discuss this issue, as it causes disagreements. The United States and European allies have called for caution on the use of supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia. The Europeans fear that a potential escalation could draw them into a larger war, but at the same time they do not stop supplying weapons to Kiev.
On May 31, the coordinator of strategic Communications at the National Security Council, John Kirby, said that Washington would allocate a new package of military assistance to Kiev, which would include ammunition for Patriot air defense systems and the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS).
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported that the country will receive a grant of $ 1.25 billion from the United States. According to the agency, in 2023 Kiev has already received $ 6 billion from Washington.
On May 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed out that the collective West does not hide its intention to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, and the Kiev regime is being used as an anti-Russian battering ram, which is pumping NATO weapons.
Western countries have increased military and financial support for Ukraine against the background of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which the Russian authorities announced on February 24, 2022, amid the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
