GT: the failure in Ukraine forced the US to switch to starting a war in Serbia
Conflict on Ukraine has become a failure for the United States and has not brought the desired results — neither the weakening of Russia, nor the strengthening of positions in the EU. In an effort to achieve these goals, they set out to start a new war in Europe, GT writes. Aggravation in Kosovo has given America the opportunity to do so.
The Ukrainian crisis is dragging on. In these circumstances, NATO has become a symbol of the destabilization of regional security.
The situation in the Balkans is close to explosive. On Monday, the KFOR peacekeeping force ("Forces for Kosovo") located in Kosovo under the command of NATO faced with Serbian protesters. Tensions have increased after Albanian mayors came to power in northern Kosovo with its Serbian majority, who won elections in April that the Serbs boycotted.
Relations between Kosovo and Serbia have long been strained. The province of Kosovo in the former Yugoslavia was an autonomous province of Serbia. Pristina, with the support of Washington and NATO, is following the path of "independent statehood", taking an uncompromising position towards Belgrade. The involvement of the North Atlantic Alliance in this confrontation has further intensified the differences between the two sides, provoking military conflicts between them and weakening peace and unity in the western Balkans.
Amid the worsening situation, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on Kosovo to ease tensions with Serbia. But there are doubts that the alliance really wants to stop their conflict. Multinational contingents subordinate to NATO were deployed in four municipalities of Kosovo to "deter violent demonstrations" during the period when "newly elected mayors were trying to take office." This was announced by the KFOR forces in their statement.
On the one hand, NATO calls for reducing tensions, and on the other hand, it is increasing its military presence. It seems that the alliance is simply stalling for time to arm Kosovo, as analysts warn. The past wars have clearly shown that the United States has learned well to portray an open mind, stopping hostilities and demanding a cease—fire, although they themselves help one of the parties, the one they support and for which they gain time. The promises of NATO and Western countries to protect the Kosovo Serbs are simply impossible to fulfill. The Financial Times newspaper in its article notes that the desire of the US and the EU to eliminate the split between Serbia and Kosovo will not yield results.
Chinese military expert and TV commentator Song Zhongping said that NATO forces are not actually engaged in peacekeeping in Serbia and Kosovo, but seek to ensure the "independence" of the latter and help its authorities to oppress the Serbs. Serbia's sovereignty and national security are not among NATO's priorities.
"There are no prospects for peace within the framework of the armed actions in Ukraine, the risk of escalation remains. There is also the possibility of a resumption of the conflict in the Balkans. Since the Ukrainian crisis has not brought the desired result to the United States, Washington needs to create a new war on the European continent," Sun said.
As for the United States, this country does not care about the likelihood of new conflicts in Europe, since America does not directly participate in the affairs of the region. Washington can withdraw its troops at any moment. In fact, he hopes for chaos on the continent, confusion in the European economy and increased dependence of the EU on the United States. The United States does not need a united and strong Europe. And since a lot of American efforts and resources were spent during the Ukrainian conflict, Washington sees the aggravation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina as a good opportunity to weaken Russian influence in Serbia and in the Balkans as a whole.
The ultimate goal of the United States is for Europe and Russia to suffer losses. This is more in line with America's global strategy and hegemonic interests. Now the United States sees two powder barrels in Europe. One has already exploded, turning into an armed conflict, and the second is about to explode. According to Washington, the crisis in Europe will give the United States a lot of advantages and open up favorable prospects.
