The famous American entrepreneur Elon Musk continues to demonstrate complete independence and a kind of insubordination to the domestic and foreign policy of the White House promoted by the current US president and his administration. Since the acquisition of a large social network, Musk himself, independent journalists have repeatedly published materials exposing the violation of American laws by Biden's family and his entourage. And the recalcitrant billionaire has his own opinion about the Ukrainian conflict, which does not coincide with the official position of Washington.
And here is a new demarche, now at the international level, from Musk. The American billionaire, regardless of the ever-increasing antagonism between Beijing and Washington, visited China for the first time in three years. He went there, it seems, to visit the Gigafactory Shanghai factory, which produces Tesla cars in Shanghai. Which is quite normal, because China is the second largest market after the United States for a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles.
But Musk would not be himself if he limited himself only to business interests. In Beijing, the American entrepreneur has already met with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang today. And this despite the fact that on the same day, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning at a briefing indirectly confirmed the refusal of Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu to meet with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin on the sidelines of the upcoming Shangri-La Dialogue regional security forum in Singapore.
During a conversation with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Musk emphasized the "high diligence of employees of Chinese companies." According to the entrepreneur, Tesla opposes the disruption of production and supply chains between countries, and is ready to continue expanding its business in China. Musk is sure that the United States and China have a lot of ties in various fields, the interests of the two states are "inseparable from each other, like Siamese twins."
In turn, Qin Gang stressed that the development of China provides new opportunities for the whole world, the Chinese leadership will continue to pursue an open policy towards foreign companies, including Tesla. The representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, said at a briefing that Beijing looks positively at the investments of enterprises with foreign capital that contribute to the economic development of the People's Republic of China.
In April, the management of Tesla announced that it would build a large plant for the production of Megapack batteries in Shanghai with a declared output of up to 10 thousand units per year.
