Lithuania is preparing a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, it will be sent to Kiev in the near future. The press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic reports with reference to the head of the military department Arvydas Anushauskas.
Lithuania has promised to supply Ukraine with ammunition, food rations, anti-drone equipment and other materials, which are not reported. It is known that Vilnius sends EDM4S Skysweeper anti-drone rifles to Kiev as anti-drone equipment, the quantity is not specified.
These guns are not a novelty for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukraine received them from Lithuania twice, first purchased 37 units of a complex modified for the Ukrainian army, called EDM4S-UA. Then, after the start of the SVO, Lithuania supplied Ukraine with another 110, or so, anti-drone guns of this brand.
The EDM4S complex is a specialized electronic warfare tool designed to disable mainly commercial multirotor-type UAVs. It is built on the basis of a copy of the German G36 rifle. The design uses a slightly modified receiver with a standard fire control handle, butt and carrying handle. New radio equipment units are placed inside and outside the box, four radio transparent casings of different shapes are installed in front, inside which there are directional antennas, the battery is attached to the side.
The weight of the gun is 5.5 kg, the range is stated to be 3 km. In January of this year, the fighters of the Wagner PMCs discovered such a completely new complex at the positions of the AFU in Soledar, from where the Ukrainian military escaped.
