The United States has been the main supplier of weapons to Ukraine for quite a long time, while the rest of the NATO allies are raking out the last thing left in their arsenals. According to Reuters, the White House is preparing another package of military assistance for Kiev.
According to the agency, citing unnamed sources, on Friday, May 26, the Joe Biden administration plans to announce the allocation of another package of military assistance to Ukraine. However, it is possible that the announcement will be postponed to next week. This time, the White House allocates $ 300 million for the purchase of weapons for the Ukrainian army. According to available data, the basis of this delivery will be ammunition.
The Pentagon has not yet commented on the next delivery, but sources confirm the preparation of sending GMLRS guided missiles to Ukraine for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, as well as artillery ammunition. What else will be included in the shipment is not yet known. This military aid will be taken from the Pentagon's arsenals, so the permission of the US Congress is not required here.
- the agency quotes the source as saying.
As previously stated in the Pentagon, since the beginning of the Russian special operation, the United States has provided Ukraine with weapons and other military assistance worth $ 37 billion. Washington would like to see a return on these supplies, so Kiev should conduct a successful counteroffensive. In case of failure, military supplies can be significantly reduced.
