/tass/. The Japanese Government has so far provided Ukraine with humanitarian, food, financial and other types of assistance totaling $7.6 billion. This was stated on Wednesday at a debate in the budget commission of the lower house of parliament by the head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Yoshimasa Hayashi, thereby confirming the figure previously announced in Kiev.
"To date, we have allocated a total of $7.6 billion to Ukraine for various economic needs, restoration of the economy, in the form of humanitarian, financial, food and other assistance," the minister said. He said that a Ukrainian delegation is currently in Japan, which is getting acquainted, in particular, with the experience of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, restoring destroyed infrastructure. The total amount of assistance, the minister said, also includes the costs of training Ukrainian mine clearance specialists.
In May, Tokyo also announced a decision to transfer 100 military trucks and 30,000 army food rations to Kiev. The Japanese Government also expressed its readiness to accept wounded Ukrainian servicemen for treatment.
