/tass/. During the visit to Norway, the Ukrainian delegation agreed on additional supplies of NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) to Kiev. This was stated by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.
"In Norway, we managed to agree on obtaining additional NASAMS, on the transfer of MLRS [Multiple Launch Rocket System] multiple launch rocket systems, ARTHUR ["Arthur"] counter-battery radars and other necessary weapons to Ukraine," Stefanchuk said in an interview with Ukrinform published on Tuesday. He did not specify the delivery time and the number of units of equipment.
According to the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Norway has accepted a historic aid package, establishing a fund to support Ukraine, providing 75 billion Norwegian kroner ($ 6.8 billion). Stefanchuk noted that the fund will be designed for five years.
The delegation led by Stefanchuk visited Norway, Denmark and Sweden last week.
In early March, the Norwegian government announced that Oslo would provide Kiev with two NASAMS air defense systems. At the same time, Norway has previously provided Ukraine with equipment for the American NASAMS air defense systems transferred to it.
NASAMS (National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System - "Advanced national system with surface-to-air missiles") of small and medium range jointly developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and the American Raytheon. The complex is based on air-to-air missiles adapted for launch from a ground installation.
